Shooting film

So recently I picked up a Rollei 35 which has been fun. I have a Leica M6 as well, but in recent weeks I’ve been having a blast figuring out the Rollei 35. There are several types of the 35 I think? Mine is just the original 35 as you can see in the photo.

First impressions using it weren’t great actually, but it’s really grown on me since. My first experience with it was having the crank get stuck and having to fiddle with the camera back to fix it. But other than that moment I’ve loved having this little camera swinging on its wrist strap. If you’re in the market for a vintage camera that will get you a lot of “wow cool camera!” from strangers then the Rollei 35 is for you.

I’m getting the first few rolls developed soon so hopefully a few of them are usable but….no promises πŸ€“.

Cheers!

A Leica goes to Italy

Well hey there!

It’s been a decent bit since I posted. I’ll assume it will most likely not be a blog I update daily by any stretch, but I wanted to wait and post when I actually have nice shots to share. Otherwise my instagram suffices 😎.

We stopped first in Venice. Really surprised us as we didn’t see it being that much fun honestly, what with the massive increase in tourism there over the last decade. I went in the early 2000s and even then as a teenager it was beautiful but tiring. This time around I love every second of it. We stayed in a quiet district and perused the streets at night stopping and little hole in the wall bars. It was wonderful.

This same shot would have been choked full of tourist ferries just a couple hours before. Now it’s peaceful and quiet. Definitely recommend seeing Venice at night.

Start eating early in the night and slowly build steam until you have to roll home. πŸ€£πŸ˜‰. I’ve never had so many Spritzs in my life.

The middle shot there is my friends little film camera. We’ll see if he got some good shots here soon when we develop his photos. Anyway check out that awesome picture of a crane! πŸ™ƒ

A Few Opening Shots: Fixed Lens or Non?

Hello!!!My name is Roy, I’m slightly(read highly) passionate about great pictures; un-staged, personal, well framed and in general just the way I feel photography captures and enhances an experience in your life and by capturing it- let’s others in on that moment as well. I’m an app developer by trade but shooter by passion. I shoot with a Fuji X100s and a Leica Q. Β What?! Fixed only??! I choose the fixed lens for a reason though. Comfort kills creativity in my experience and having all the perfect lenses for every situation is just an enormous hassle. A great camera like the x100s or the Leica can capture those precious moments without lugging around a heavy bag of gear.

My shots at the top of this post are a mixture of each camera with zero editing. But clearly the star of the show is my dog Gertie!

Cheers
